Darth Vader will be swinging for somebody's head soon.

Details of Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been so closely guarded that fans are in a frenzy at the latest reports of leaked information.

A new report suggests that the first full-length trailer will air before Avengers: Age of Ultron when it opens in cinemas on May 1.

Recent leaked information also reveals that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open with a scene featuring new character Rey, played by Brit newcomer Daisy Ridley.

Rey is thought to be the daughter of iconic original Star Wars characters Hans Solo and Princess Leia.

A scavenger on a backwater planet, we are introduced to her lonely life as she hunts for abandoned treasures on a massive crashed Star Destroyer.

Rey's storyline soon entwines with that of Finn, played by London-born Attack The Block star John Boyega.

Finn is a wounded and abandoned Stormtrooper who begins to question his loyalty to The Empire.

Leaked details of an explosive IMAX scene reveal that Finn and Rey are attacked by Stormtroopers and flee for their lives across the desert planet's surface in The Falcon (Hans Solo's legendary Millenium Falcon).

Pursued by enemy TIE fighters they fly into the cavernous interior of the crashed Star Destroyer with Rey at the controls and Finn manning the gun turret.

Descriptions of their banter and budding alliance bode well for a future romance.

This scene is believed to be the major action set-piece that will dominate the first part of the film.

The pair are also rumoured to find a severed-hand holding a light sabre.

Fans are already excited at the possibility that it may be Luke Skywalker's.

As more information (and speculation) trickles in, there is also exciting news about another fast-rising Brit star, Domhall Gleeson.

Gleeson found fame in the last couple of years in Richard Curtis' About Time and is currently stretching his sci-f muscles in Ex Machina.

Latest reports suggest that he plays an Imperial high-flyer who may be a Rebel spy.

Even more excitingly, he may be the son of Luke Skywalker.

Could director J.J. Abrahams and his team be setting us up for another tangled love-triangle?

The original threesome of Luke, Leia and Hans will all return in the new films, played by the original stars Luke Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.

Max von Sydow, Andy Serkis and Oscar Isaacs also star.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas on December 18
