It carries a 15 certificate and is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) so you know there will be a good deal of violence.
In the near future, our safety is guaranteed by a force of robots.
Scientist Deon Wilson (Dev Patel) is determined to make Chappie the first robot with a mind of its own and an ability to think and feel for itself.
Chappie could be the next step in the evolution of artificial intelligence.
Turned towards the dark side, Chappie could be an unstoppable destructive force.
Boorish Aussie baddie Vincent Moore (Hugh Jackman) is not prepared to take the chance so an epic struggle begins to determine how human Chappie has become and where his true loyalties lie.
Chappie is an ambitious futuristic epic that struggles to balance its more philosophical elements with Blomkamp’s cartoonish instinct to blow everything to smithereens. Not exactly subtle but still a watchable guilty pleasure.
