Robert Downey Jr.'s cocky Tony Stark is about to find that his cocky genius will finally bite him in his clever ass.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron the terrifying enemy is an all-powerful robot of his own creating.

As the trailer ramps up the tension Stark wearily declares,

"No way we'll all survive."

Ah, come on, you guys are The Avengers, surely this can't be the end.

Can it?

In the trailer we see the eponymous Ultron in terrifying action or enthroned in menacing grandeur.

"I was designed to save the world," he growls.

"People would look to the sky and see hope.

"I'll take that from them first."

Like so many others before him he believes that the best hope for Earth's future is the removal of mankind.

"There's only one path to peace - their extinction," he warns.

When things look there most desperate Samuel L. Jackson's Nick fury still has some stirring last words.

"Here we all are with nothing but our wit and our will to save the world," he declares.

"So stand up and fight."

Goosebumping stuff.
