Cinderella – New UK Trailer - Official Disney - HD

Sure, there's a glass slipper, but Disney's new live-action take on Cinderella is not quite a cutesy as it first appears.

In the brand new trailer Cate Blanchett's wicked stepmother shockingly smashes the fabled footwear.

You don't see THAT in the cartoon!

So how is Lily James' Cinders going to get her prince now?

The new trailer shows the expected balls and pretty dresses as Cinderella and her handsome beau flutter their eyelashes at each other.

But Kenneth Brannagh's film seems determined to try and put some meat on the bones of the traditional love story.

Richard Madden as Cinderella's prince

Downton Abbey beauty Lily James looks stunning as our scullery maid-turned princess, but she's also shown challenging the prince and showing some backbone.

As she discovers the plots swirling around her she warns her wicked stepmother.

"I will protect the prince from you, no matter what becomes of me."

Stirring stuff.

Cate Blanchett as Cinderella's Wicked Stepmother

Speaking of the prince, Game of Thrones hunk Richard Madden must face the political reality of marrying for duty while trying to maintain his dignity in a ridiculously tight pair of white breeches.

But the most fun looks to be had, as usual, with the villains of the piece.

Cate Blanchett scowls and schemes magnificently as the couture-clad boo-hiss stepmother.

She is joing in her dastardly ways by the Stellan Skarsgard's rotten Grand Duke who seems desperate to get rid of Cinderella at any cost.

Will true love prevail?

Helena Bonham Carter's Fairy Godmother is on hand with a sprinkle of magic and a heaving bosom, but how will they get around the issue of smashed glass slipper?

As if that wasn't enough excitement already, the film will be shown in cinemas with an added treat.

The short film Frozen Fever, sequel to Disney's monster smash Frozen, will run before Cinderella.

The seven-minute mini-feature rejoins Elsa, Anna and the gang as disaster hits a very special birthday party.

Most importantly it features a brand new song by the songwriting team of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez who brought us Let It Go.

Disney's Cinderella open in cinemas on March 27
