'They make me sick!' What? Did Johnny Depp just insult half of Hollywood?

JOHNNY DEPP says actors who front bands are 'sickening.' Russell Crowe, Jared Leto, Bruce Willis, Ryan Gosling and the rest are NOT gonna be happy...

Hello Johnny Depp, is that you on stage with Aerosmith?

Or in the recording studio with Oasis and Marilyn Manson?

Wasn't it you who based your infamous portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of The Caribbean films on rock legend Ronnie Wood?

Hmmm, interesting...

The star of recent musical Into The Woods stunned the audience at the Berlin premiere of his latest film Mortdecai when he attacked film stars who fancy themselves as rock gods.

When he was asked what he thought of fellow thespians who fronted their own bands he let loose with both barrels.

"That whole idea for me is a sickening thing, it's always just made me sick," he declared.

As if he wasn't clear enough, the 51-year-old really put the boot in by adding,

"I hate the idea, 'Come see me play the guitar because you've seen me in 12 movies'."

Nobody knows what prompted the outburst but he must be aware that certain Tinsel Town A-listers might take offence.

Johnny Depp

Surely he can't mean Oscar-winning Jared Leto, who fronts his own (highly successful, stadium-filling) band, Thirty Seconds To Mars?

Leto famously abandoned Hollywood for years to pursue his rock dreams, before The Dallas Buyers Club tempted him back.

Or perhaps Johnny is looking to tangle with Russell Crowe?

The Aussie hard man hasn't quite hit Leto's levels of success with his own band, 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts, or the follow-up, Ordinary Fear of God.

Our money's on Crowe if it comes to fisticuffs.

There's also Ryan Gosling with Dead Man's Bones, Jack Black with Tenacious D and Bruce Willis with his band The Accelerators.

Not to mention Keanu Reeves, Dennis Quaid and Kevin Bacon.

And let's not forget the ladies.

Toni Collette, Juliette Lewis and Jada Pinkett Smith have all fronted their own bands.

Heavens, even Downton Abbey's Countess, aka Elizabeth McGovern, moonlights with Sadie and the Hotheads.

Looks like Depp has some explaining to do when he gets back to La La Land.

Johnny Depp Says Actor-Musicians Make Him Sick

Especially since he himself has been known to pop up on the albums of Oasis and Marilyn Manson, doubtless because of his extraordinary musical talent, not his famous connections.

"I've been very lucky to play on friends' records and it's still going," he explains.

"Music is still part of my life.

"But you won't be hearing The Johnny Depp Band.

"That won't ever exist."

The guitar-playing singing actor tried to clarify his point by saying,

"The kind of luxury now is, anybody with a certain amount of success, if you have a kind of musical being, you can go out and start a band and capitalise on your work in other areas."

"It shouldn't be [that way]. You want the people who are listening to the music to only be interested in the music."

He may have a point, but it may be too late to get both feet out of his mouth.
