Damsels in Distress film review
DAMSELS In Distress is the very disappointing return of filmmaker Whit Stillman (Metropolitan) whose previous feature, Last Days Of Disco, came out in 1998.
Funny peculiar rather than funny ha-ha, it features a bunch of deeply weird, highly irritating college girls on an East Coast campus who run a “suicide prevention centre”.
This involves encouraging depressed students to dance. The off-beat sensibility may appeal to some but I found it torture.
