Disney remakes: These are all the Disney movie remakes heading to cinemas
DISNEY has never had a shortage of content, and now they're plundering their own classics to reinvent for the modern day. Here are all the Disney films coming out.
The Lion King: Beyonce stars as Nala in Disney classic
Disney has proven they can take any classic tale and remake it, to higher and lesser degrees of success. While new content is always in development, like the upcoming Soul from Pixar, plundering their vintage content is now an expected move from the mouse-house. This is a list of the upcoming Disney remakes, sequels, and live-action adaptations of their classic hits.
The Lion King
Coming out on July 19, 2019, The Lion King has an incredible cast featuring the likes of Beyoncé and James Earl Jones.
Other cast members include Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and John Oliver.
The remake will almost entirely follow the plot of the classic tale, if slightly darker for the live-action/CGI filmmaking style.
Mulan
The Mulan remake is heading to cinemas on March 27, 2020.
There is almost no promotional material out yet, no trailers or posters to speak of.
However, the cast list has been confirmed as well as some new and cut characters from the original.
TOY STORY 4 EASTER EGGS: IT WILL HAVE SOMETHING FROM EVERY PIXAR FILM
The Little Mermaid
Disney has made a positive step forward in casting R&B singer Halle Bailey as Ariel in their upcoming Little Mermaid adaptation.
So far the only other confirmed star is Awkawfina as Scuttle, and the film is still in development.
In talks for the role of Ursula is Melissa McCarthy, with Jacob Tremblay in talks for the role of Flounder.
Lady and the Tramp
After a flurry of news surrounding musician Janelle Monae's casting, Disney has been relatively quiet about the CGI adaptation of Lady and the Tramp.
The film will head straight to Disney's new streaming service, Disney Plus.
