Lake Tahoe
LAKE TAHOE is not a film for the impatient.
The second feature from the director of Duck Season is a quirky, minimalist affair – a shaggy dog story where the humour is as dry as the desert heat.
Juan (Diego Catano) crashes the family car and his search for a replacement distributor harness is the start of a long, hot afternoon punctuated by eccentric encounters with ageing mechanic Don Heber (Hector Herrera) and his dog, martial-arts fanatic David (Juan Carlos Lara II) and young mother Lucia (Daniela Valentine).
A sprinkling of wit and a sharp eye mark this sleepy, well-observed insight into a life that is just as stalled as the car.
Just don’t expect fireworks.
VERDICT 3/5
