Fiona Phillips loves freedom
Fiona Phillips says she’s relieved that she no longer has to be glammed up every day for a living.
The 49-year-old, who quit the GMTV sofa in December 2008, says the biggest relief now that she is not working daily is that she doesn’t have to sit in a make-up chair so regularly.
“I used to hate all that,” says Fiona, who has just published a book about her experiences of having both parents suffer from dementia.
“Some people love it but I was too tired to have my face pulled and pummelled at five in the morning. I never looked perfect anyhow.”
For now mother of two Fiona, who has been a panellist on Question Time and hosted Channel Five’s The Wright Stuff and ITV’s Loose Women, is happy as a presenter for hire and does not regret leaving GMTV, which has been replaced with Daybreak. “I haven’t given up television, just GMTV, and now that’s given itself up!” she says.
