James finds fame has its rainy days
JAMES Corden, famed for playing loudmouth Smithy in cult comedy series Gavin & Stacey, has admitted that he finds fame “scary and stressful”.
The roly-poly comedian, whose comedy partner, Mat Horne recently collapsed from exhaustion while starring in a West End play, is known for his bubbly personality.
But the 30-year-old fears living in the full glare of the spotlight.
On whether he is enjoying fame, he says: “I do find it scary and stressful if I think about it too long. I just feel exposed, like I’m really out there, with my face on billboards on buses and stuff.
“I feel like I can’t go back in now. It’s like stepping outside your flat, thinking, ‘Isn’t it a lovely day?’ and then you realise the door has slammed and you’ve forgotten your keys. You think, it’s fine for now – but you worry it might start to rain.”
