14.09.08, 8:43pm
I am a worcester native but moved away 8 yrs ago but now moved back to the city i can't belive this one little bit.
Worcester make silly rules but never stick to them so let's hope that they don't as they going to ruin the ice creme van business and all chirdren will miss out of an ice creme on a hot sunny day my daughter always love an ice creme from the vans that goes around our part of the city and i don't think it upsets any of our local residents one bit so i think worcster is makin an an **** out of them self once again

What a load of boring bar stewards these councillors are!!
They obviously have never experienced the joy as a small child hearing the jingles of 'Greensleeves' etc and anxiously awaiting the ice cream van!
I'm sure there are much more pressing matters that the council should be looking into than the chimes coming from an ice cream van.
Last summer, I could hear the chimes but couldn't find the van. My friend drove me round the estate until we found it, because I had an overwhelming desire for a 99 with monkeys blood (raspberry sauce).
Well worth the search! Fact is, I would not have known the van was there if the chimes are for 4 seconds only!
I'm sure these councillors are trying their utmost to pee off the British public with their ridiculous rules and regulations.
Drugs, drink, sex outdoors no problem. Fancy an ice cream and you've 'ad it mate!

COUNCIL CALLS CHIME ON THE ICE CREAM VAN JINGLE

This law should have been brought out countrywide years ago. The noise is horrendous and can be heard above TV in a double glazed house, even with windows closed.
I am appreciative of the fact that we don't have to walk too far to shops and have melted ice cream by the time we get home but, when chimes can be heard the length of a long street and further, it is a nuisance. At weekends and during school holidays it can be about every hour or less. I feel sorry for mothers who have young babies wakening up because of the noise.
