In a few words:

"inhumanity in its treatment of the vulnerable"

Published: Thursday March 27,2008 by THe_Nickster

"Had the so called asylum seekers kept to the rules of International law and stayed in the first safe country in which they arrived we would not have the problem." Maggie

That is not always the case and even if it was many asylum seekers are victims of unscrupulous criminal people smugglers taking advantage of people who are understandably trying to escape oppressive regimes and poverty.

The report says our asylum system " is marred by inhumanity in its treatment of the vulnerable." and I am disappointed that most of the comments published here so far fail to comment on or condemn this part of the report. I can only conclude that our asylum system reflects the basic inhumanity of many British people and Daily Express readers. Please attempt to prove me wrong.
