David Cameron must not let us down on reform of the EU

DAVID Cameron, at his last EU summit before the general election, was optimistic about his chances of successfully renegotiating the terms of Britain’s membership.

Donald Tusk has warned that EU reform is 'mission impossible'

This is despite hostility from eurocrats such as president of the european Council Donald Tusk who called it “mission impossible” last week. animosity is widespread among eurocrats who are desperate to drive their beloved european project onwards whatever the cost.

There is also opposition from the leaders of other EU states. With Britain one of the largest financial contributors to the EU and home to hundreds of thousands of migrants from eastern Europe it is not a surprise that there are many leaders who do not want the organisation remodelled in accordance with Mr Cameron’s vision.

David Cameron is right to say that should he win the election he will have a powerful mandate for change in Europe.

The British people are sick of rampant immigration, petty eU diktats and being forced to send our money to Brussels to fund this shambles.

Mr Cameron’s promise of a referendum is a popular pledge and one that will have lured voters from other parties. If he is returned to number 10 the British people will have demonstrated that they want mr Cameron to get to grips with Brussels. The Prime minister must not let us down.

Labour’s latest poster is typical of their scaremongering approach to the health service. it makes the dishonest claim that the nHs cannot withstand Conservative plans for pubic sector cuts even though the party has pledged to ringfence spending on it.

Furthermore Ed Miliband had promised to avoid using negative election tactics. But the latest poster starkly depicts a broken leg, a clear attempt to scare voters into backing Labour rather than a mature and sensible attempt to win them round with reason and logic. Labour’s lack of credibility on the economy, Europe, immigration and defence has left the party little choice but to blather about the state of the health service and to try and terrify voters using a highly emotive issue. This is not the sort of leadership Britain needs or wants.

Cheryl Fernandez-versini is considering switching her support from Labour because she has to pay a “lot of tax”. no doubt those still living in the council estates where she grew up have a lot of sympathy for the millionaire popstar but after tax cuts on Budget day plenty of erstwhile Labour supporters will agree with her.
