Child sexual exploitation in Britain’s second city

THE scale of the sexual abuse perpetrated in Rotherham by Muslim gangs shocked the nation when it was revealed in August.

Man convicted of speeding reoffends six minutes after his driving ban has been enforced [GETTY ]

Thanks to their slavish adherence to political correctness council staff and senior police officers played down the ethnic background of the majority of the men responsible.

Any lingering hope that this phenomenon would be present only in Rotherham has been dispelled by a previously undisclosed report by Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board.

The report states that three-quarters of men grooming youngsters for sex in Birmingham are Asian but 82 per cent of their victims are white.

Shamefully it also criticises failings by police as well as councils and social services to protect vulnerable victims and brands the low number of prosecutions “startling” and “unacceptable”.

It is unacceptable that the fear of being branded “racist” has prevented people – including those who are supposed to be in charge of securing law and order – from tackling the issue head-on and acknowledging that we have a problem with Asian men

It is unacceptable that the fear of being branded “racist” has prevented people – including those who are supposed to be in charge of securing law and order – from tackling the issue head-on and acknowledging that we have a problem with Asian men committing sex offences.

The most important thing is to keep young women and girls safe. Sparing the feelings of ethnic minorities or those on the Left who presume to speak for them has no part to play.

The only thing that matters is ensuring that these men are caught, prosecuted and sent to prison.

Punish this man properly

A MAN was found guilty of speeding after doing 107mph on a 50mph road.

He was banned from driving for 28 days and ordered to pay a total of £1,033.

This slap on the wrist hardly did the trick.

Six minutes after the start of his driving ban he was caught again at the wheel of his car trying to drive home from court.

He has been summoned back to court and we can only hope that this time his sentence is enough to act as a genuine deterrent.

To carry out this act of illegality so flagrantly shows that he has clearly not learnt his lesson nor does he have any respect for the courts.

Only a very severe punishment for this repeat offence will show him the error of his ways.

Maggie is a grande dame

Congratulations to Dame Maggie Smith on being made a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour by the Queen yesterday. She is almost grander than her character in Downton Abbey.
