Will.i.am is allowed to take centre stage
WHY has the American pop entrepreneur Will.i.am, left, been allowed to hijack not only the Diamond Jubilee Concert but also the ceremonial carrying of the Olympic flame?
What has this smart phone obsessed man, constantly texting and tweeting (even while the flaming torch was in his hands) done to deserve such a prominent place in the nation’s greatest ceremonial occasions?
I was astonished when he was one of the opening acts at the Jubilee Concert. It seemed somehow inappropriate for a
non-Brit to kick things off.
Cynically, I suppose it’s the BBC promoting its latest star as hard as it can. But since he first appeared as a coach on The Voice his (admittedly cheery) little face has rarely been off our screens.
I think he’s in danger of outstaying his welcome.
