Who are today’s old troupers?
AMID the economic gloom the sight of the Queen finally knighting Bruce Forsyth was a cheering break.
For 70 years he has been adding to the nation’s fun and frivolity, a statistic which apparently surprised the 85-year-old monarch.
The entertainers of yesterday had staying power. Ken dodd, who made his first appearance in 1954, is still going strong.
Norman Wisdom’s entertainment career ran from 1946 until 2004. Tommy Cooper, from 1947 till 1984.
I wonder who of today’s entertainers will still be around in 70 years and still giving us amusement?
I look around and cannot spot one.
