The 75-year-old's spouse of 59 years, Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, passed away on April 10 after a short but fierce battle with cancer.
Despite keeping his presence on the down low since the news emerged online, Sir Tom has now been seen out in Los Angeles, after confirming that he would be back on stage at London's Hampton Court Palace Festival next month.
Sir Tom's promoter added: "The show must go on."
An onlooker told the Mirror of the Delilah hitmaker's appearance: “He looked tired out. Santa Monica is a beautiful place to clear your head, which is what he seemed to be doing. He was deep in thought as he looked out across the water."

Singer's wife Linda died following a 'short but fierce battle with cancer'
Sir Tom confirmed that his wife had lost her battle with cancer last month, posting a statement on his official Facebook page.
The message read: "Surrounded by her husband and loved ones, she passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
"Sir Tom and his family have asked for privacy at this difficult time and no further information is currently available."
Tom and Linda married back in 1957, and remained together despite his many well-publicised infidelities. The couple have one son together named Mark Woodward, who works as Sir Tom's manager.

Last month, the singer sparked concern when he cancelled a gig in Manila due to a "serious illness" in his immediate family.
It was believed to be Linda who had been taken ill, but this was denied by his management.
In his autobiography released last year, Sir Tom revealed his wife has twice had cancer scares, was a heavy smoker and had developed emphysema.
