Comedian Terry Alderton joins EastEnders as Bianca Jackson's cockney cabbie love interest
EASTENDERS loudmouth Bianca Jackson is about to find love in Albert Square in the form of comedian Terry Alderton.
The 42-year-old star, who has just performed at the Edinburgh Festival, will take on the role of cab driver Terry Spraggan, who the redhead meets during a trip to Manchester.
"I’m still in shock, it’s all happened so fast," Alderton said of his new role. "I can’t wait to get started and I love the fact I don’t have to change my name!"
Alderton will begin filming his scenes in September and will appear on the BBC1 soap in the autumn.
His character is certainly going to put the spring back into Bianca’s step, as she hasn't had a serious relationship since divorcing Ricky Butcher and her recent attempts at dating have not gone well.
"Terry is your typical Cockney cabbie," an EastEnders spokesperson said. "Definitely a bloke’s bloke, he’s never short of an entertaining story to tell about who he’s had in his cab the night before."
Alderton's previous acting credits include BBC’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Holby City and the final series of London’s Burning, playing firefighter Charlie Mead.
