One Direction on a roll as they rock New York 50 years after Rolling Stones took city
THE good times are still rolling for British bands in the Big Apple decades after Mick Jagger first had America at his feet.
As the Rolling Stones were in New York for the premiere of a film charting their extraordinary success, another band from the UK were causing a sensation on the streets of the city.
One Direction were mobbed by 15,000 fans during a live performance on Today television show in the Rockefeller Plaza.
During the show, the group confirmed they will star in a 3D movie to be released next year.
Huge crowds also gathered outside their hotel on Tuesday to catch a glimpse of Harry Styles, 18, and the other four members.
The near-riot comes two years after they reached The X Factor final.
Around the corner, and no strangers to screaming fans themselves, Jagger, 69, and the band were on the red carpet
celebrating 50 years in rock.

The Rolling Stones Crossfire Hurricane is an HBO documentary telling what Keith Richards, 68, has described as
“almost a fairy story”.
Now One Direction are writing their own chapter.
