Christopher Eccleston has clear conscience over Doctor Who departure
CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON is content with his decision to leave DOCTOR WHO after just one series, insisting he feels no guilt for walking away from the show.
The actor became the ninth star to play the Time Lord in 2005 but left at the end of his first season to be replaced by David Tennant.
Eccleston has never given full details of his reason for departing but has previously said he didn't "see eye-to-eye" with the team behind the sci-fi series.
Now he's spoken out to insist he made the right choice to leave the popular BBC show, adding that he should not feel guilty for disappointing fans.
Eccleston tells the Daily Telegraph, "I know what went on and the people who were involved know what went on - that's good enough for me. My conscience is completely clear. I've lived my life, particularly my working life, on the basis that I have to be able to look at myself in the mirror about the way I behave. It wasn't a bold move, it was an entirely natural one."
