ITV loses two of its Loose Women
TV show Loose Women has axed two of its presenters in a bid to boost ratings, it emerged yesterday.
Kate Thornton, who joined the ITV daytime show in 2009, and Zoe Tyler, a panel regular for four years, will not be returning after the summer break.
There are also doubts about comedienne Sarah Millican, 36. The shake-up comes after a dramatic slump in ratings. In January the live, hour-long, lunchtime show had two million viewers. By June it had only 700,000.
A spokeswoman for former X Factor host Miss Thornton, 38, and singer Miss Tyler, 41, confirmed the decision. New presenters have been lined up.
An ITV spokeswoman said: “Kate and Zoe have been fantastic Loose Women. We’ve really enjoyed working with them and look forward to working with them again in the future.”
Loose Women won a National Television Award for Most Popular Factual programme in 2010, but critics said it had become outdated.
