Buffett launching Margaritaville game
Veteran entertainer JIMMY BUFFETT is set to jump into the video game industry with his own take on a popular social networking series.
The singer has teamed up with developers THQ to launch Margaritaville Online, named after his big hit, at the upcoming E3 exhibition in Los Angeles.
The game, like Zynga's widely-used FarmVille, will allow players to create their own island resort, take part in mini-games and play with characters from Buffett's songs while listening to the star's music, reports Billboard.com.
Buffett says, "The Margaritaville laidback state of mind is inherently social, and THQ has captured the spirit of that lifestyle in this game. With Margaritaville Online, fans across the globe can party together any time and any place."
Buffett isn't the only star to take advantage of the growing popularity of social networking websites and games - Lady Gaga debuted tracks from her new album Born This Way on a spin-off of FarmVille, dubbed GagaVille, last week (ends20May11).
