Hollie Chapman who stars as Alice on The Archers has vowed to continue her leading role with the BBC. The 35-year-old joined the show when she was 11 and has taken fans on a journey for the past 17 years.

The popular British show has over five million listeners – and is Radio 4's most listened-to non-news programme with a staggering one million listeners via the internet.

Hollie is part of the star-studded lineup that holds the show's highest record for BBC Radio online listening figures. In an interview with the Radio Times, she opened up about where she saw her character. She hoped that fans would get to tune in for at least the next four decades. She said: “So might we get another 40 years of Alice, on and off the wagon until she’s an ancient matriarch like Peggy (played by June Spencer from 1951 to 2022)? Oh gosh. To be like wonderful June… Wow! We’ll see.”

Hollie rose to fame after starring on the West End as a child. She made her debut in the hit musical Annie, which has been shown around the world on stage. Chatting about how she landed the role with the BBC she explained that her grandmother told her about the auditions.

The actress revealed: “Some radio show. Hadn’t heard of it, but my Nana had and said, ‘Goodness, you have to get this part!”

Eagle-eyed fans have been hooked after the latest instalment and claimed they cannot get enough of Alice Carter’s life.

Recently Alice has been battling with her ongoing addiction to alcoholism but this time she appears to of hit an all-time low.

She passed out in her car after downing a large bottle of vodka she had grabbed from Joy Horville in the village shop.

However, it has been said that viewers have been left “wide awake” after the unnerving episode.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “Oh my goodness, what on earth happened there? I need a general anesthetic until tomorrow.”

Another said: 'What a great cliffhanger this evening, can't wait to hear what happened as a consequence of today's "incident"'.

While a third added: “Well that's a genuine cliffhanger because I have absolutely no b***dy idea of what just happened there. I think I know, but I'm almost certainly wrong.”
