Ed Sheeran's Met Gala look brutally mocked as fans compare him to High School Musical star

Ed Sheeran was one of the many stars that took to the Met Gala red carpet on Monday night, but the singer's look was brutally mocked by fans online.

Ed Sheeran's Met Gala ensemble has been mercilessly ribbed by fans who hilariously claim he's channelling his inner High School Musical character.

The Shape of You crooner turned heads at the 2024 Met Gala, donning a gleaming light-blue suit that immediately drew comparisons to Zac Efron's prom attire from High School Musical 3.

The 33-year-old music sensation paired his striking suit with a pristine white shirt and a sparkling tie to match, but it was the uncanny resemblance to Zac's character, Troy Bolton, that had social media in stitches.

Users on X (formerly Twitter) were quick to draw parallels to the memorable prom scene where Troy laments his tight tuxedo during the song A Night to Remember.

As Ed graced the prestigious event, quips about his outfit flooded the internet.

One amused observer said: "Ed Sheeran is giving Troy Bolton when his tux was too tight."

Another brutally chimed in: "Wtf is even this he looks so out of place ksksksks."

A third fan expressed their amusement, saying: "I love Ed Sheeran cosplaying as Troy Bolton at the #MetGala."

Meanwhile, another added to the banter: "Ed Sheeran looks like he's about to have A Night To Remember #MetGala."

Ed was a standout among the stars that graced The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the annual themed gala, donning an outfit aligned with the Garden of Time theme.

The celebrity-laden event saw some unusual ensemble choices, and Ed's attire was certainly up there.

Other celebrities who wore eye-catching ensembles included Doja Cat, who turned heads with her near-nude towel attire, Emily Ratajkowski who chose to fashion a sheer, crystal-embellished dress sans undergarments, and Rita Ora whose X-rated transparent dress made quite the statement.

Whilst a fair share of criticism was targeted at Ed for his audacious choice of wardrobe, some of the male attendees fell under scrutiny for their lacklustre outfits, including the co-chairs of the event, renowned singer Bad Bunny and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.
