S Club 7 reunion tour brutally trolled as critics brand it an 'over 55s exercise class'

S Club 7's reunion tour has been brutally slammed by trolls, who criticised their "tired" dance moves and compared their brightly coloured outfits to Teletubbies costumes.

S Club 7 was once famous for its chart-topping hit 'Don't Stop Movin', but - in contrast to its lyrics - trolls felt the group had stopped "moving to the funky beat". The Good Times tour has seen five of the seven original group members head back on the road for a reunion - Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh and Jo O'Meara.

However, in a blow for the once best-selling 1990s group, trolls have said their dance moves are akin to an "over 55s exercise class". The members are now all in their 40s, and some feel they lack the youthful exuberance that the nation remembers from the first time around.

After footage from a recent US show was shared on Instagram, nay-sayers exclaimed that their outfits made them look like Teletubbies or Power Rangers. Other criticism included: "Looks like most of them stopped movin' to the funky beat", while one follower dismissed their routines as "old and tired".

"It's like going to an over 55's exercise class!" Another unimpressed troll chimed in. Jon Lee was dressed in a bright yellow ensemble, maintaining his colour choice all the way down to his neon Nike trainers - and fans thought he looked like Laa Laa from the children's cartoon The Teletubbies.

"I mean, I'm DEAD!" one follower captioned the footage, which also included former pin-up Rachel Stevens in a bright red jumpsuit that saw her compared to Po. Tina Barrett avoided the Teletubby look, but braved a very revealing neon pink outfit, comprising of a butt cheek-baring leotard and matching thigh-high boots.

The string of negative comments may have been a disappointment for a group who once performed to screaming crowds at sell-out arena tours and sold more than ten million albums worldwide.

However, some fans rallied against the claim that their best days were behind them, with one describing the reunion show they saw as "truly the best".

Another wrote: "Getting paid to do something you love whilst bringing joy to others, I see nothing wrong with this whatsoever!"

A third agreed: "It was so epic. Most fun I’ve had in years honestly."

S Club 7 was originally put together by music mogul Simon Fuller - the same man who'd managed The Spice Girls.

The group first became a household name after its appearance on CBBC kids' series Miami 7, which was broadcast in the spring of 1999.

The show became a hit in the USA and 99 other countries too - and it was seen by over 90 million viewers.

Following on from its success, S Club's debut single Bring It All Back was an instant chart hit, quickly sailing to number one, while the subsequent album went platinum.

The BRIT Award-winning group went from strength to strength, even filming their own Hollywood TV show - but tensions were bubbling beneath the surface.

Hannah Spearritt had disagreements over earnings, complaining that Simon had made millions from their talents, whereas she believed group members should have been paid more.

Meanwhile, Paul Cattermole quit the group just three years after it was founded, citing issues with management.

The following year, in 2003, they disbanded and went their separate ways, only to reform in 2023.

Sadly, just months later, Paul - who'd been expected to join the others on tour - suddenly and tragically died, while Hannah quit, leading the other five to go it alone.

The 25th-anniversary comeback has so far achieved mixed reviews - but only time will tell if they can regain their former popularity.
