Scott Mills has been a familiar voice on our radios for years and had one of the longest tenures on BBC Radio 1's history. After 24 years of endless creativity, he replaced veteran Steve Wright in 2022.

But away from his job, Scott leads a relatively normal life with his partner, Sam Vaughan. The pair live together with their cavapoo, Teddy, at their home in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

Scott came out as gay in 2001 in an interview with The Guardian and he suggested that the “the climate has changed, even in the past five years”, so it felt like it was the right time.

In the summer of 2016, Scott met Sam at a radio event in Wales. The pair started texting and spent time travelling between London and Wales to keep up the relationship.

It was then announced in October 2021 that Scott and Sam revealed their engagement. Taking to Twitter at the time, Scott said: "After 4 years together I’m delighted to say we got engaged at the weekend.

"As Sam knows, I always said I didn’t think I would ever get married. But then I met you Sam. You make me laugh every single day, you support me in so many ways and I adore everything about you.

"As soon as I met you I knew this could be something special and it is (after a slow start). We’ve had some amazing times, and I’m bursting with happiness to know we will have so many more. I love you with all my heart."

The couple are set to tie the knot later this year with a star-studded wedding in the Spanish town of Sitgnes. Celebrity guests are rumoured to be the likes of Radio 2 regular Rylan Clark and Scott's former colleague Greg James.

Scott originally shot to fame after working as a presenter on Radio 1 for 24-years. In an announcement made in July 2022, Scott was confirmed to be moving over from BBC Radio 1 and taking over Steve Wright's mid-afternoon slot.

Steve hosted Steve Wright in the Afternoon on Radio 2 since 1999, and also presented the slot Steve Wright’s Sunday Love Songs. The veteran host died on February 13 in a statement confirmed by his family.

Scott paid tribute to Steve in a moving post, saying: "Steve Wright is one of our greatest ever broadcasters. He made everything sound effortless, and worked so hard to make every show world class.

"He was a constant inspiration to me on how to do radio that sounded big. When I first started doing shows at Radio 2, he and I spent hours reminiscing about his days at Radio 1, and I would listen to his stories and wisdom in awe. My thoughts are with his family and my colleagues who have worked with him for so many years. Steve, you’re the best to ever do it."
