Lizzie Cundy has been inundated with supportive messages from fans after sharing that suspected burglars attempted to break into her home while she bathed last night. The presenter took to Instagram to share a picture of an overturned car outside of her home as she explained the terrifying ordeal in a lengthy caption.

She began by telling her 77,000 followers she was in the bath when she heard a "huge bang and noise downstairs", seemingly the noise of intruders trying to get into her home. Thankfully for the presenter they were not successful, all thanks to a passerby's quick thinking.

Lizzie continued to explain: "Luckily a passing farmer saw someone lurking around and thought it was suspicious and called the police immediately. Thankfully the police came around in minutes to my home but the 2 men drove off into my fence with such speed they overturned their car as you can see from the photo above."

The presenter added the suspects ran away from the scene and police unfortunately couldn't catch them. "I just want to say a huge thank you to Hampshire police who came over so quickly and stayed with me. The police were amazing," she added.

"This is happening way to often especially in rural areas. We all need to look after each other. Thankfully someone did for me. If anyone knows anything please contact Hampshire police."

"That’s awful and so frightening for you. Thank goodness that farmer was passing by," another commented.

A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary told the Express: "We were called at 10.14pm last night (9 January) to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Upton Grey. It was reported that the occupants of a blue Honda CR-V were shining a lamp around fields in rural areas.

"The vehicle later collided with a fence and it was reported that the occupants fled on foot. Officers attended the scene and have launched an investigation. The vehicle has been recovered and seized for examination.

"Today (10 January), we received a report that moments after the incident, oil was taken from a property where the crash occurred. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting 44240012728."

The frightening time comes just days after Lizzie returned to the UK from her sun-soaked holiday in Barbados.

On Tuesday, she shared a picture of her sunbathing in a leopard print swimsuit while relaxing on a beach, writing: "Take me back... it's sooo cold."

Lizzie shared various other snaps from her enviable holiday which certainly garnered attention on her page.

Taking to her grid earlier this week, she stood in the GB News studio to announce her return on Nana Akua's show.
