Tokyo 2020: Team GB rower makes cheeky dig at Piers Morgan
Piers Morgan has divided fans over the past week with his statements about Olympic medals. The outspoken journalist has now turned his attention to Michael Johnson, after "sparking inevitable wokie rage".
With all due respect to Johnson, he’s talking disingenuous nonsense
The 56-year-old previously tweeted: "Real sporting champions don't celebrate coming 3rd."
He suggested that only gold medals should be celebrated, as anything else is not winning.
Now the father-of-four has fired back at retired sprinter Michael, 53, over comments he made on the micro-blogging website.
Piers had previously used him as an example to prove his aforementioned point.

The former Good Morning Britain host had stated: "To all weak, whiny wokies still banging on about why losing at the Olympics is so fantastic and should be wildly celebrated, I present Michael 'GOAT' Johnson’s Twitter name & bio.
"@MJGold. Olympic and World Champion. 12x Gold, 0x Silver, 0x Bronze."
Piers said this statement "sparked inevitable wokie rage" as "they despise anyone who celebrates victory rather than defeat".
It was then that Michael posted online: "Putting this to rest! Winning ANY Olympic medal is incredible. I was always favoured for gold, so silver/bronze would be disappointing.
"But if I were a projected finalist, bronze is a win!
"Don’t listen to people whose only sport is stirring up s**t. Regardless of how many followers they have."
Piers boasts 7.9 million followers compared with Michael's 132,000 fans.
Hitting back, Piers has stated: "With all due respect to Johnson, he’s talking disingenuous nonsense.

"This is a guy who used to run in gold shoes and once said: 'Not winning golds would not have been a success, that would have been a failure.'"
The broadcaster continued: "I much prefer the honesty of British boxer Ben Whittaker, who declined to wear his silver medal and explained: 'You don’t win silver, you lose gold.
"'I’m very disappointed – I feel like a failure. You’re in this game to win gold. Nobody trains for silver or bronze.'
"Exactly. And if you do, then you’re training to lose," in The Mail On Sunday.
The backlash has not stopped Piers tweeting about Tokyo 2020 and this morning reacted to Jason Kenny's latest outing.
The British cyclist, 33, has made his way into British Olympic history with his seventh gold medal.
Piers posted: "WOWZA. I love it when a truly great athlete just decides to rip up the conventional rulebook & blow everyone away - for no other reason than they know they can.
"Congrats, Legend @JasonKenny107 - this was the best moment of the whole Olympics."
