This Morning: Holly and Phil elated by Spin to Win caller
This Morning presenters Holly Willloughby, 40, and Phillip Schofield, 59, have spoken about the deal they made between themselves at the start of the Covid pandemic last year. Speaking to The Radio Times, the duo discussed their approach to broaching the subject live on air, adding that they put their foot down when it came to "hysteria broadcasting."
Not doom and gloom, but honest and challenging
The pair spoke frankly about what they wanted to achieve with their reporting on the ITV breakfast show.
Speaking about watching the team become smaller due to Covid restrictions, the silver-haired presenter revealed that at one point it was just he and his co-star in the make-up room.
He said: "We watched the team drift away and suddenly it was just Holly and I getting ready in make-up – and that was like a therapy session."
Speaking about how they would approach the subject of the coronavirus pandemic on This Morning, Phillip candidly added that he wanted the show to be "honest".

He continued: "But right from the start, we said we didn’t want to do hysteria broadcasting.
"Not doom and gloom, but honest and challenging", Phillip said.
When asked how the favourite show treads the line between being informative and entertaining, Holly addressed the emergency measure that had been put in place by their crew.
She said: "When this started, we had as much fear and anxiety as everybody else.
"At one point we had cameras put into our homes so we could broadcast from there if we couldn’t get into the studio."
Also in the interview, the blonde-bombshell revealed that she was "terrified" of replacing longtime presenter Fern Britton 12 years ago.
The star candidly admitted that she felt outside of her comfort zone stepping into her new job, as she only felt comfortable talking about "cookery and fashion".
However, despite admitting that people had their doubts about her as the new presenter, Holly said that Phillip supported her from her first day on set.
