Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast host speaks out after co-star Sally Nugent's 'willie' remark
DAN WALKER, the host of BBC Breakfast, has shared some insight into the awkward moment his co-star Sally Nugent blurted out the word “willie” on national television. The news anchor has admitted he struggled to keep a straight face during the live broadcast.

Dan Walker has waded in on a discussion about his BBC Breakfast co-star and sports correspondent, Sally Nugent. Fans of the morning programme were floored when the sports reporter said “willie” during yesterday's instalment of the show. In fact, the side-splitting moment led one viewer to comment on Dan’s expression at the time of the incident. On Twitter, the individual wrote: “Dan Walker’s face when Sally Nugent said, ‘We love Willie on this show’.”
Responding to the tickled viewer, the 42-year-old journalist joked about the situation and how his co-host Louise Minchin was oblivious to it all.
“I was tempted but then I released our next story was about fertility treatment and I had to be sensible,” he began.
“I don’t think Sally knew she’d said it and, to her credit Louise Minchin missed it completely.”
Commenting on his post, 50-year-old Louise replied: “Thank goodness.”
Sally had been reporting on sporting matters when she turned her attention to Irish jockey, Willie Mullins.
Following a story about Kash Ali’s six-month ban from boxing, she said: “Good news for Willie Mullins though, we love Willie on this programme.”
Her remark brought a smile to viewers' faces, with some taking to Twitter to discuss the hilarious event.
One person quipped: “Sally’s Twitter following has doubled today,” as another added: “Your face Dan was a picture.”
A third commentator joked: “Lucky that the jockey wasn’t called Richard.”
Sally’s funny statement comes after her co-star Dan reacted to a post shared by Line of Duty star Martin Compston on Twitter.
Martin tweeted about the programme’s Organised Crime Group, praising the team on a “phenomenal performance".
He penned: “Phenomenal performance across the OCG team tonight. Not much else you can add after that episode.
“[I] don’t want to hint at spoilers, got a feeling a few folk in meltdown. Two more to go.”
Responding to the 34-year-actor in view of his 559,000 followers, Dan jested: “You’re on thin ice fella… wafer thin.”
