The team at DiscoverCars.com used more than 250,000 traveller reviews to rank the world's best city or destination for a road trip.
All the destinations featured on this list have been reviewed at least 500 times and have breathtaking scenery, tons of attractions to see and easy roads to explore.

10. Budapest, Hungary
Hungary's capital might not be the first place you think of when you're planning a European road trip but Budapest scraped into 10th place in the ranking. Start in the city and take a two hour drive to Lake Balaton through vineyards and hills to get to one of Hungary's prettiest waterside spots.

9. Lanzarote, Spain
Lanzarote's volcanic landscapes almost look like something out of space. It takes just a little over an hour to cross the small Canary Island but drivers will be able to visit some of the island's most secluded beaches. Check out Playa de Orzola for a quiet beauty spot.

At just 10 miles wide and 35 miles long, Menorca is the ideal destination for a beginner road trip. Experts recommend touring some of the island's southern beaches, visiting Mitjana Cove and Binibeca town.

Pointe-a-Pitre is in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. The city is known for its vibrant markets so make sure to factor in a road stop for some fresh produce and spices. Head out of the city to visit the island's prettiest beaches.

New Zealand's otherwordly landscapes and long open roads, make it the perfect destination for a road trip. From Christchurch, tourists could head to beautiful Lake Tekapo or visit Mount Cook National Park.
